Your wedding day,
preserved on film.

Wedding photography on 35mm film isn’t a trend. It’s a choice to have photographs that feel like your day actually felt — warm, emotional, and real. These are images you’ll return to for the rest of your life.

Why film for weddings

Digital captures the moment. Film captures the feeling.

There’s a quality to film wedding photography that’s hard to put into words — but you know it when you see it. The colours are richer. The skin tones are softer. The highlights don’t blow out in harsh midday sun. Everything looks a little more like a memory and a little less like a photograph.

That’s not a filter. That’s 35mm film doing what it has always done — rendering light in a way that feels honest and human. For a day as significant as your wedding, that matters.

“A wedding on film is one of the most beautiful things I get to do. Every roll is something I know will last.”

Timeless look

Film wedding photos don’t date the way digital editing styles do. You won’t look back in ten years and cringe at a trend — you’ll just see your day.

Skin tones

Film is exceptionally flattering. It handles the full range of skin tones beautifully, even in the unpredictable light of a Queensland wedding day.

Emotion over perfection

Film encourages a slower, more intentional approach. The result is photographs full of genuine moments — not staged poses and stiff smiles.

Prints worth keeping

Film scans at a quality that holds up beautifully in large prints and albums. These aren’t just images to scroll past — they’re worth putting on a wall.

What to expect

Film-first. Always honest about what that means.

Phoebe Kate is a film-first wedding photographer. That means the heart of your coverage — the ceremony, the portraits, the quiet in-between moments — is shot on 35mm film. If you’d like additional digital coverage for broader reception candids or backup, that can be discussed and arranged.

There are no instant previews on the day. No scrolling through a screen between shots. Just presence, attention, and the quiet confidence that comes from trusting the process. Your gallery will be ready 2–4 weeks after your wedding, once the rolls have been developed and scanned at a professional lab.

Pricing is discussed personally — every wedding is different in scope, location, and what you need. Get in touch and Kate will work with you from there.

Locations

Cairns weddings and destination coverage.

Phoebe Kate is based in Cairns, QLD — and Far North Queensland is one of the most beautiful places in Australia to get married on film. Palm Cove at golden hour. The lush green of the Daintree. A clifftop on Fitzroy Island. The Atherton Tablelands at dusk. She knows this region and loves shooting it.

She also travels. If your wedding is in Byron Bay, the Whitsundays, Sydney, Melbourne, or somewhere overseas entirely — reach out. Destination weddings are welcomed, and travel is discussed openly and fairly upfront.
